What a treasure! Absolutely recommend to come here! The whole area is unbelievably beautiful (and we were here on a rainy day!) - definitely worth it to bring a fleece, even in summer. It’s quite fresh inside. The gift shop & cafe at the entrance is wonderful with some amazing little trinkets from the past as well as postcards & homemade treats. A destination!
A++ destination for nature lovers, definitely deserves the UNESCO status and will make your trip worthwhile.
It does involve a short hike uphill and can get quite wet and slippery. Otherwise, tremendous feeling walking right on the edge of the gorge taking in the rush.

You can take a 45 mins bus from Meiringen and reach here. There is an entrance fee of 10CHF per adult and the round way trek takes about 45 mins. You will get close look of the Rosenlayi waterfalls, a must visit.
Deep canyon cut out by the river. The path has quite a bit of stairs and can be cold to visit. There are several routes available. We took the shortest because we were with 2 small kids and it was perfectly manageable.
What a beautiful hidden gem in switzerland. Absolutely breathing taking views. There were no tourist. We had such a peaceful time in Rosenlaui my baby loved the cows. He was so exited by watching them.
This place is very nice especially in the morning when the weather is nice and clear sky.. Not so many visitors and you can enjoy the water thunder and Beauty of nature. Staff was very friendly and kind. They started to explain everything and food service was simple and good compared to what they have in this remote area...

I came here for the first time yesterday, the day of the closure of this Unesco world heritage marked canyon till next spring. There was little water in the river but the cliffs in the canyon carry witness of potentially very high water levels. There were climbers inside the canyon but they moved too much for me to be able to "shoot" them with the very low shutter speeds I had to use. The surroundings are beautiful, even without leaves on the trees. There are plenty of places where you can have a bite if you left your picnic at home. However, don't expect anything sophisticated.
